The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has provided an update on the outbreak of cholera across the country.
In its update, the Ghana Health Service revealed that the outbreak has been recorded in the Greater Accra, Central, Eastern, Western, and Ashanti Regions.
As of December 24, 2024, 4,155 suspected cases have been recorded with 35 deaths.
According to the GHS, the majority of the deaths were recorded within 24 hours after the admission of the persons involved.
The Western Region, the state that revealed it, is the most affected, with 17 deaths recorded.
The GHS added that 662,906 persons out of the 792,482 eligible population have been vaccinated in the Western Region.
As part of the measures in reducing the spread of the outbreak, the GHS has activated the National Public Health Emergency Operation Centre at the national level.
It has also activated the Public Health Emergency Management Committee (PHEMC) in all the affected regions and districts.
