Deputy Director of Elections for the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mahdi Gibril has revealed that those who disapproved of Dr. Omane Boamah as the Director of Elections and IT were the first to commend him following the party’s ‘’impressive victory”.
He opined that the medical professional has demonstrated beyond doubt that he is an authority when it comes to elections management.
Mahdi Gibril, appearing on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, noted that when Dr. Boamah was appointed, several individuals opposed it and also opposed the decision of the party to join the Elections Directorate and the IT together.
He told host Kwabena Agyapong that Dr. Boamah has proven his critics wrong by delivering on his mandate and ensuring the impressive victory for the NDC.
Mr. Gibril described Dr. Boamah as a leader who worked so well with his team without any form of discrimination, adding that he was a leader who carried others along with him and did not lord himself over others.
He also stated that the combination of the two directorates was a positive decision that helped the NDC in executing a well-laid-out election management plan towards victory in 2024.
”I believe those who thought otherwise were the first to compliment Dr. Boamah on his outstanding performance. In fact, I have been involved in the electoral process since 2010, and I have worked with several directors of elections, including Dr. Omane Boamah, the fourth director of elections. The system he used is something you can keep or improve on; otherwise, you’ll be starting from scratch. Leadership is concerned with maintaining credibility and ensuring that the system functions properly.”
He said Dr. Boamah was so open that even at 2:00 a.m., you could hear him say, “Dr. Omane Boamah is a leader.” In every election, leadership confidence helps to build confidence, which he was able to achieve. He did an excellent job, and we must commend him for his efforts.
