President John Dramani Mahama tasked Prof. H. Kwesi Prempeh to lead a team of legal and governance experts to review the 1992 Constitution.
The professor would be joined by seven others in executing this task.
Acting Spokesperson for President Mahama, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, in a statement, said the committee is expected to identify gaps in and challenges with the implementation of the previous constitutional review done by the 2010 constitutional review commission and the 2023 constitutional consultative committee.
They are to engage key stakeholders and solicit their views on the proposals for amendment of the 1992 constitution aimed at enhancing democratic governance for the country.
The statement said the committee is required to submit their report in five months.
The composition of the committee, the statement added, underscored President Mahama’s desire to engage persons proven in expertise, dedication to the service of the nation, and commitment to good governance.
