President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Anthony Sarpong as the acting Commissioner-General of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).
A letter issued and signed by Executive Secretary to President Mahama, Callistus Mahama said the appointment takes immediate effect.
It comes after Julie Essiam officially resigned from her position.
The appointee has 14 days to accept or decline the offer.
Mr. Sarpong is a senior partner at the auditing firm KPMG.
The letter announcing his appointment said, “His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana, in accordance with 195 (1) of the Constitution and Section 13 (1) of the Ghana Revenue Act, 2009 (Act 791), has appointed you as the Acting Commissioner-General of the Ghana Revenue Authority pending receipt of the constitutionally required advice of the government Board, given in consultation with the Public Services Commission,” a letter from the Office of the President stated.
