President John Dramani Mahama is now in Nairobi, Kenya, attending a high-level retreat on African Union (AU) institutional changes.
He will be joining other African leaders at the retreat, which is scheduled to take place from January 27th to 28th, 2025.
He is attending the retreat at the invitation of Kenya’s President, William Ruto, who was named the African Union Champion.
The event will highlight the progress and future of AU reforms, including sustainable financing and a review of the AU’s structure and operations.
President Mahama will share his leadership experience and thoughts, as well as discuss Ghana’s commitment to the African Union agenda.
Some of the issues tabled from discussion will include improving the AU’s decision-making processes, increasing financial independence, and enhancing collaboration among member states.
During his visit, President Mahama is also expected to engage in bilateral talks with Kenyan officials and other leaders from Africa to deepen ties between Ghana and them.
