I’II deal with the 17,000 housing deficit in the GAF and give them a benefiting accommodation—Minister-designate

Omane-Boamah-485x375-2

Minister-desigante for Defence, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah has pledged to ensure a befitting accommodation for soldiers

The nominee promised to rollout a system that will address the accomodation challenges confronting the Ghana Armed Forces.

He asserted there was an urgent need for a significant infrastructure boost to provide soldiers with suitable housing.

Appearing before the Appointments Committee of Parliament on January 28, 2025 he lamented that there was a accommodation deficit of approximately 17,000 units within the GAF.

“Accommodation is very critical, the deficit is about 17, 000 if I’m not mistaken. And efforts have been made by successive governments to ensure that this deficit is bridged. Let me assure you that several options would be considered.

“The most important thing is to ensure that accommodation is provided. Even if we have to look at the Public Private Partnerships that are being done. Even if we would have to draw on the government of Ghana’s budget. It will be befitting [accommodation].”
