Samuel Nartey George, Minister-designate for Communications, Digitalisation, and Innovation, has stated that President John Dramani Mahama prioritises financial technology (fintech).
He stated that President John Dramani Mahama is still committed to leveraging digital financial services to boost economic growth and financial inclusion.
Sam George stated during his Appointments Committee vetting on Thursday, January 30, 2025, that the current administration intends to modernise Ghana’s economy through the use of fintech.
He assured Ghanaians that if approved, he would use his office to foster the growth of fintech companies, ensuring that digital payments and financial services are available to all Ghanaians.
“Fintech is at the heart of Mahama’s government,” he stated. “We recognise the transformative power of digital financial services, and our administration is committed to ensuring that fintech drives economic opportunities for all, particularly those in under-served communities.”
He said the government would work closely with regulators and industry players to enhance fintech infrastructure, strengthen cybersecurity measures, and promote innovation in the digital financial space.
