Dr. Rashid Pelpuo, the Minister-Designate for Labour, Jobs, and Employment, has revealed that he will consider working towards a review of the Single Spine salary structure.
The nominee pledges to work in consultation with players in the industry and embark on the review.
Dr. Pelpuo posited that there was the need to reach a point of satisfactory response from the NDC’s government posed for many questions asked about the review.
A member of the Vetting Committee, Patrick Yaw Boamah, confronted the nominee with the question that for some reason, some services, such as the Judicial Service, Audit Service, and the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), opted out of the Single Spine, leading to agitations from other services, particularly the Civil and Local Government Service, which went on strike so many times in 2024.
He was then asked what the NDC was going to do about the pay structure as demanded by CLOGSAG and whether or not the government will grant the same for them.
Responding, the nominee said, ”I know that this is one of the key areas of concern and still under negotiation. The review of the Single Spine Salary Scheme, and I would plead for your support, I will join my colleague Ghanaians who are within the space of the labour industry so we can finally get to a point when a review can take place so we can have a satisfactory response from the NDC government to the many questions posed in that request for a review”.
