The Minister-Designate for Communications, Digital Technology, and Innovations, Sam George, has refused to withdraw his comments that the former President Akufo-Addo government stole from the public when it had promised to protect the purse.
The nominee who has been subjected to over 100 questions by the minority and confronted with videos, audios, and social media posts by the minority leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, says he still stands by his comments.
He maintained that the comments were not in bad taste and that under no circumstances will he withdraw.
The nominee in 2024 made the comments in an interview he granted to GhOne television.
In the said comments, he said, “The Akufo-Addo-Bawumia government did not steal from the purse; they told the purse itself.”.
When confronted with the question on whether he still stands by the comments he answered yesterday, he demanded the Vetting Committee and the Chair grant him time to submit over 700 scandals to support his assertions.
Chairman Richard Ahiafor reacted, saying the nominees could not be granted the luxury to submit the evidence orally and that he should furnish the committee with the needed information.
The minority insisted and demanded he do so orally, but the chairman stood his ground on his ruling.
