A former member of Parliament for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Lower West Akim under the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Gifty Klenam has officially defected to the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
She has since publicly announced her decision today, Thursday morning (January 30, 2025), after obtaining her NDC membership card in the Anlo Constituency of the Volta Region.
Addressing journalists after her admission into the umbrella family, she claimed that the NDC aligns with her personal values.
“Upon consultation with my family, I decided to join the NDC because it aligns with my values and vision for mother Ghana,” she said.
She has commended the NDC for its manifesto, saying the party’s policies were good and President John Dramani Mahama will transform the country and deliver prosperity to Ghanaians.
Madam Klenam served in the Fourth and Fifth Parliaments of the Fourth Republic and later as CEO of the Ghana Export Promotion Centre (GEPC) in 2017 under the previous NPP government.
