President John Dramani Mahama has appointed former Deputy Women’s Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Maame Efua Houadjeto, as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA).
She is replacing Akwasi Agyeman, who stepped down from his position on January 22.
Houadjeto is expected to lead the GTA in promoting Ghana’s rich cultural heritage, boosting the tourism sector, and developing policies to attract both local and international tourists.
The Ghana Tourism Authority is one of the thirteen agencies under the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts.
She is expected to work with a team at the Authority, which is mandated to make Ghana the preferred sustainable tourism destination. They are committed to the sustainable development of tourism through the deployment of the best technology and ICT, effective regulation, and standardisation.
As part of her duties, she would be expected to help the Authority to also aim to strengthen partnerships (multi-agency partnerships, public–private partnerships, stakeholder partnerships), aggressive marketing and robust investment promotion, uplifting industry service, and safety and health standards, and enhancing accountability and shared responsibility.
She worked with Image Consortium Limited, a corporate concierge, event management & logistics company committed to primarily providing professional services for our clients and specialised in organising product launches, trade shows, conferences, seminars, corporate marketing communications, logistics, cocktails, banquets, and bilateral trade relations.
She has also worked with IE Design, an interior & exterior design company that delivers beautiful and functional tailor-made designs to bring excitement to living spaces that offer affordable solutions to clients in transforming their spaces into comfortable environments.
