Kusi Dankwa, aka Lazio, a special aide to Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has slammed socio-political analyst Alex Emmanuel Nti for claiming that the Effutu MP was asking unnecessary and irrelevant questions on the vetting committee.
He stated that the analyst’s description of the questions was inappropriate.
The lecturer opined that when meeting a panel to be interrogated as a nominee and you had submitted documents and you are being examined on the same questions, I think it is unfair to be on the radio to refer to these questions as irrelevant.
Mr. Dankwa indicated that this is the first time we are witnessing a nominee being vetted beyond six hours, citing that former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta was vetted for 48 hours.
He said when nominated for a position, the vetting process goes beyond your competence because your integrity and credibility ought to also be questioned or interrogated.
He was responding to comments made by the analyst who has suggested that the minority leader was causing trouble and creating chaos through his unnecessary and irrelevant questions.
But Lazio stressed that his boss has been firm, fair, and remained dedicated to his duties on the committee.
He said the minority leader and his other colleagues were under threat, but the NDC’s side had brought in thugs to attack and intimidate them.
‘’We should be reminded that when you appear before the committee, you are vetted not only about your competencies but also about your integrity, candour, and humility, and that is what the minority leader has always done with the nominees, including Sam Nartey George, who appeared before the committee yesterday.’’
’If he is responding in the name of a professional, he should be measured in his remarks. He should not describe the questions by the minority leader as irrelevant and unnecessary. The minority leader is being thorough with the nominees based on the information they submitted before the committee.”
