The Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) has formally notified the government of a potential nationwide strike, should it fail to rescind its decision to revoke the recruitment of nurses and midwives who were employed into the public service after December 7, 2024.
The Association emphasized that this directive will adversely impact over 5,000 nurses and midwives currently serving in the public sector.
In a statement issued by the GRNMA, it was noted that this decision will have far-reaching consequences, ultimately affecting the quality of healthcare delivery.
Furthermore, the GRNMA highlighted that the nurses and midwives who have been asked to vacate their positions are fully licensed and qualified professionals.
The recruitment process for these individuals commenced in mid-2024.
