Samson Ahi, Deputy Minister-designate for Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry, has revealed that the previous government did not construct a kilometre of asphalt road in Bodi, Western North Region, in eight years.
The MP representing the area indicated that, contrary to the previous administration’s promises, the roads in the area were not tarred.
This was his response to Patrick Boamah, Member of Parliament for Okaikwei Central, during his vetting by Parliament’s Appointments Committee on Monday, February 24, 2025.
The NPP asked the nominee to clarify whether roads in his constituency had been paved by the previous government.
But reacting, Samson Ahi denied the claims saying “A big false,” he declared, emphasising that no significant road development occurred in Bodi during the period in question.
“You [NPP government] didn’t even add one inch of tarred road in 8 years in Bodi district.”
Patrick Boamah followed with cautioning the nominee to be minded of his response since he could be dragged before the Government Assurance Committee to clarify his remarks.
But Samson Ahi maintained that “Eight years, and not one kilometer of road was added in Bodi,” he asserted.
“Mr. Chairman, if the Honorable Member can show me where the tarred roads are, I’d be happy to retract my statement.”
