Organiser for the Ghana Amputee League Clubs Association (GALCA), Amugi Joseph, has revealed that the team is yet to receive their bonuses after winning gold in the Africa Para Games held in 2023.
He lamented that the national amputee football team, the Black Challenge, consistently called on the previous government through the former Sports Minister Mustapha Yusif to redeem its promise to them following their gold-winning performance at the 2023 Africa Para Games, but nothing fruitful came out of it.
Speaking in an interview with Rainbow Radio Sports, he said the situation was unfortunate, highlighting the neglect of para sports and the overconcentration on the senior national team, the Black Stars.
He posited that if it was the national team that had not had their bonuses paid, heaven would have broken loose, but for the past two years, they have been ignored, all because they are in the field of para sports.
‘’The former minister promised to prioritise our issues, but he failed to deliver on his promise. To date, the team that represented Ghana at the 2023 Para Games and won gold for the country has not been paid their bonuses. They focused on only the Black Stars. That is why we are appealing to the new Sports and Recreation Minister. He should extend an invitation to us so we can have some issues addressed. The boys who represented Ghana have not even been rewarded with a cup of water.
The bonuses have also not been paid.He disclosed that it was the Philadelphia Church leader, Rev. Adom Kyei, who extended a hand to them.
