The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has reminded traders and businesses engaged in the importation of cereals from Burkina Faso that that the ban on these imports was still in force.
A statement issued by the ministry indicated that the government of Burkina Faso, through a joint communique dated December 19, 2023, informed Ghana of the ban on the export of rice, millet, maize, sorghum, and white beans.
It said another communique was issued dated November 13, 2024 reminding Ghana that the export of the cereals had not been lifted.
The Ministry has therefore reminded traders and businesses that export such cereals from Burkina Faso to desist from that so they are not sanctioned.
‘’Thus, Ghanaian traders and businesses engaged in the importation of these commodities from Burkina Faso, are advised to take note of the directive and comply accordingly to avoid any sanctions and cessations.’’
