The Assin North Member of Parliament, Rev. Ntim Fordjour, has taken President John Dramani Mahama to the cleaners over his failure to comment on the directive issued to have some public sector workers dismissed.
The former deputy education minister said President Mahama committed a cardinal sin by refusing to comment on the issue, which he claimed has devastated those who have been affected by this.
Speaking exclusively to Rainbow Radio’s parliamentary correspondent Boshyeba Afriyie.
He stated that for a government that promised to create more jobs for unemployed youth, it was unforgivable for him to order the dismissal of former government employees on political grounds.
He dubbed the SONA ‘Nkoko Nkiti Nkiti,’ claiming it was full of lamentations and offered no hope.
”The President’s SONA was full of complaints and did not inspire hope. The government’s dismissal of over 23,000 youths is unfortunate. The most appalling aspect of it all was his refusal to comment. We expected him to issue an immediate directive to rehire those who had been fired. He fired these employees and then turned around to blame the previous administration. There is no way that Mr. Mahama can accomplish anything extraordinary.”
He advised President Mahama to stop lamenting and address the so-called challenges he mentioned, stating, “Ghanaians voted massively for you, so you have no excuse to fail.” You shouldn’t complain. Solve the problems immediately.
”The previous government hired several young people, of whom you have fired over 23,000, including nurses, teachers, and employees from NPRA and NEIP, among others, who had worked for three to five months. You came in and sacked them. The victims are devastated. Some have even died as a result of the problem. Those affected are in mourning and suffering.”
