Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga has stated that the details in the State of the Nation Address (SONA) delivered by President John Dramani Mahama show that the previous New Patriotic Party (NPP) left the country in a miserable state.
This was in response to the SONA delivered by the President on Thursday, February 27, 2025.
He posited that the economic crisis the country is facing is a direct result of reckless financial decisions and mismanagement by the previous administration.
“We cannot allow this level of mismanagement to go unpunished. The people of Ghana deserve justice, and the majority will stand with the president to ensure that happens,” he stated.
He assured Ghanaians that the ruling government remains committed to addressing the economic crisis, restoring stability, and maintaining fiscal discipline.
“The damage left behind is extensive, but we are determined to fix it and put Ghana back on the path of progress,” he assured.
“Now is the time to prioritise the welfare of our people and work together to bring Ghana out of this economic hardship,” he concluded.
President Mahama, in his address, claimed that Ghana was in an unprecedented crisis, but as somebody who hates to complain, he will fix the problem.
‘’Mr. Speaker, it is not my style to lament and shift blame when confronted with challenges, as others often do. My approach is to accept challenges and work hard to resolve them. Indeed, that is precisely what the people of Ghana elected me to do.I have not come here to lament the state of our country, though there is much to lament. I understand why I was elected with such high voter confidence—to solve their problems.’’
