President John Dramani Mahama has appealed to Ghanaians to rally behind the reset agenda.
To him, it will take a collective action to steer the economy toward recovery and sustainable growth.
Speaking at the launch of the National Economic Dialogue on Monday, March 3, 2025, President Mahama said the dialogue was not organised just to discuss economic challenges but to find practical solutions and establish a progressive path for the country’s financial future.
“We are not here to recount our struggles, nor are we here to resign ourselves to economic stagnation. We are here to seek solutions that will put us on a path of growth trajectory and to ensure that we build an economy that works for every Ghanaian,” he stated.
“For me, this is not just another policy discussion; it is an urgent call to action. A crucial moment for us, as stakeholders, to purpose and resolve the challenges that face us,” he added.
Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, speaking at the same event, posited that bold reforms were needed to help the country move towards upper middle-income status.
“Without comprehensive reforms, unfortunately, Ghana will only achieve upper middle-income status after the year 2025, and we cannot wait until 2050 before we become an upper middle-income country.”
“We have no choice but to introduce measures to reset our economy. If we are to do well and introduce very ambitious reforms, Ghana will indeed become an upper middle-income country before the year 2038,” Dr. Forson added.
