The Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has disclosed that the Trede Hospital, which was commissioned under the former government’s Agenda 111 hospital projects, has not been completed.
He claimed that the facility requires GHS 100 million to be fully completed and operational.
The facility is located in the Atwima Kwawonma Municipality of the Ashanti Region and was commissioned by former President Akufo-Addo on December 5, 2024, before he left office.
However, the minister says the facility is not ready to provide medical care for patients.
“We have inspected the Trede Hospital, and as you can see, work is still ongoing. I have been informed that over GHS 100 million is needed to complete it. There are also outstanding payments for work already done,” he said.
He said civil works have not been completed yet, labs are incomplete, and not all the equipment has been delivered, and so we don’t have health workers here working as expected and patients cannot come for treatment here as expected, he stressed.
The minister added that the president had directed that he tour all the Agenda 111 hospitals and design a blueprint on the way forward.
“His Excellency John Dramani Mahama’s marching order was clear: I should inspect all these facilities and then have a blueprint going forward—how can we, as a matter of emergency, operationalise the facility for the people to get the full benefit of the facility,”he added.
