President John Dramani Mahama has asked newly sworn-in Inspector General of Police Christian Tettey Yohonu to root out corruption in the Ghana Police Service.
He asked the IGP to ensure greater transparency and accountability in law enforcement.
Speaking after swearing in the new Inspector General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno, at the Jubilee House in Accra on Friday, March 14, 2025, said, “Mr. IGP, your role will also involve rooting out corruption within the service.
The president asserted that unethical practices within the police force erode public confidence and weaken the foundation of the justice system.
“Corruption in law enforcement undermines justice and weakens public confidence in our security agencies,” he added.
“It is crucial that all forms of unethical behaviour, from bribery to the abuse of power, are decisively dealt with,” he said.
