Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central, Isaac Agongo, has asserted that former President Akufo-Addo’s government focused on slogans over policies that could transform the Ghanaian economy.
Contributing to the 2025 budget debate on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, the Board Members of the Bank of Ghana slammed the previous administration for mismanaging the economy.
According to him, the Mahama-led administration is focused on restoring hope to Ghanaians and will not prioritise slogans like former President Akufo-Addo did.
He was particularly excited by the ‘BIG Push’ initiative, saying the initial allocation made demonstrates the commitment of the government to infrastructure development.
“We had a government which for several years prioritised sloganeering over real development. We’re bringing the BIG Push. We have made an initial allocation, and you’re complaining.
“When you said ‘Year of Roads,’ what we saw was that your [minority] own vehicles were getting stuck in your own campaign salvos. We’re going to do proper roads. This is a human-centred budget,” he stated.
