The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has directed all it members to desist from discussing internal party matters in the media.
The directive was issued by General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong on Thursday, March 20, 2025.
He said although the party acknowledges the disappointment and emotional distress caused by our defeat in the 2024 general election, it was proper for members to engage in media interviews and speak about issues that will a negative impact on the party.
The lawyer said, ‘’As an officer of the Party, mandated by the Party’s Constitution under Article 10(7)(5) to coordinate the activities and operations of the Party, please note that all Party members are hereby directed to immediately cease discussing Party issues that create unrest, negativism, and disaffection in the media and other related platforms’’.
The chief scribe of the party reminded members of their obligation to defend the party and not to create negative reactions against it.
It warned that the party will sanction persons who disobey the directive.
‘’Let us also be mindful of Article 3(5) of our Party’s Constitution, which, inter alia, enjoins us to promote and defend the good name of the Party.
Going forward, the National, Regional, and Constituency Party leadership shall respectively refer any member who violates this directive to the appropriate disciplinary committees of the Party.’’
