Second Deputy Minority Whip Jerry Ahmed Shaib has urged members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to remain calm.
He said party members must adhere to the directive issued by the party’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, and stop making comments that will cause disaffection for the party.
He believes party members must rather focus on speaking internally and avoid remarks that could give their opponents ammunition to attack the party.
Jerry Ahmed Shaib said the most important thing is for them to unite their front, address their differences and rebuild the party.
Reacting to the directive issued by the chief scribe, he said it was better for them to discuss their matters internally.
“What the General Secretary said is what we should abide by. He has advised us to desist from making remarks that can cause disaffection for the party. We shouldn’t wash our dirty linen in public. I will not accept the invitation to make any comments. My views are very critical, so I will not make any comments about Adwoa Safo’s issue. Maybe my comments can degenerate into other things.
People need to understand that when you lost an election, you should know that it was your term some time ago, and now it is somebody’s turn. Let’s come together and work for the good of the party.”
According to him, he had contested elections in the past and lost but never gave up on the party but rather focused on working in the interest of the NPP.
He added that due to his dedication, former President Akufo-Addo recognised his efforts and appointed him a Chief Executive.
“We need to unite our front. The public remarks about the party have become one too many. Even if you want to speak, it is best you speak at home than to go and speak in town so people will hear the things in your home and use them against you.”
