President John Dramani Mahama has promoted some senior officials of Ghana in his appointment of new service commanders.
The President, in appointing a new chief of defence staff, service chiefs, and a chief of staff effective March 24, 2025, promoted them to new ranks.
A statement issued by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, MP, and spokesperson to the president, the commander-in-chief of the armed forces, disclosed the promotion.
The statement expressed confidence in the new military leadership.
He admonished them to serve with patriotism, unity, and courage in protecting Ghana’s security and sovereignty.
The new appointees are:
Major General William Agyapong – Chief of Defence Staff
Major General Lawrence Kwaku Gbetanu – Chief of Army Staff
Rear Admiral Godwin Livinus Bessing – Chief of Naval Staff
Air Vice Marshal Eric Agyen-Frempong – Chief of Air Staff
Air Vice Marshal Joshua Lartei Mensah-Larkai – Chief of Staff
