Member of Parliament for Afram Plains North constituency Worlasi Kpeli says from his readings done so far on the full budget statement presented to parliament on March 11, 2025, he can state that ’theoretically, it is a good budget.
The MP asserted that he has not commented on the budget for a reason: he wants to read and understand the details and identify the weaknesses and strengths in the budget before making any commentary on it.
He indicated that one challenge that affects parliament is that the majority and minority caucuses have their entrenched positions on issues, and it becomes difficult for them to give constructive criticism, especially the minority.
He was, however, quick to add that ”so far from the very pages I have read almost to the end, theoretically – I would say theoretically because it is a book I am holding – every bit of the statement and policies is very viable to help recover Ghana’s lost glory”.
Worlasi Kpeli, appearing on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, explained that ’this is one of the budgets that is so comprehensive and much easier to understand. If you can read and write, this budget will be easier for you to read and understand.
He told host Kwabena Agyapong that ’the world has moved past the stage where you will be hiding policies and knowledge in literature. With this budget and the way the finance minister read it, it is self-explanatory. The traders in our markets will understand the budget if they read it.
He has therefore appealed to Ghanaians to take advantage of the budget and benefit from the policies, stressing that ‘’the minister has done his part and made the budget so simple that the person at the last level, including the farmer at Donkorkrom, can understand it”.
