Ghana Olympic Committee President Ben Nunoo Mensah says he will not seek reelection at next month’s GOC elections.
Mr Nunoo Mensah has served two terms from 2017 till date, and his second term will be officially ending this year.
There were speculations that he would be seeking a third term, but the man who was recently enstooled as a development chief by the Ga State has refuted the assertion.
Nunoo Mensah, in a statement, explained that he has made the decision to move on to other endeavours.
“I wish to confirm that while it would have been an honour to continue serving my nation and the sports community in this capacity, there is a greater call to serve humanity in a different and equally fulfilling way. I accordingly want to move on and will not contest in the upcoming GOC elections.
“I understand this decision may disappoint the many individuals and federations who have encouraged me to continue for another and final four-year term.
“I sincerely appreciate their support and confidence in my leadership. However, I trust they will also understand that, there comes a time when one must move on, and for me, that time is now.”
