The Member of Parliament for Pru East, Emmanuel Kwaku Boam, has expressed satisfaction with the 2025 budget statement, saying the government has kept its promise to the people.
He noted that the things the National Democratic Congress (NDC) spoke about in the budget – they are doing them.
”The position of the minority wasn’t favourable in the beginning, but when everything was concluded, it was a success,” he indicated.
He was particularly excited that the promise to scrap some nuisance taxes, including the E-Levy, betting tax, and others, has all been scrapped.
”Now we have been able to abolish it, and we are waiting for the assent of the president on them. Also, all the funds we need to support the country have been agreed upon by the parliament already. We are left with the president to put his assent on it before we can pass it to the Ghana Revenue Authority for them to do the necessary things to avoid deductions of money from our bets and others.”
Speaking with Rainbow Radio’s parliamentary correspondent, Boshyeba Afriyie, he stated, “The budget is a demonstration of our commitment to fulfilling the promises we made to Ghanaians.” Everyone wondered if we would be able to keep our campaign promises. During the budget presentation, Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson outlined several initiatives that are expected to bring relief, create jobs, and provide opportunities for Ghanaians. That demonstrates that the NDC is a party that fulfils its promises to the people”.
