Former Member of Parliament for Assin Central Kennedy Agyapong has called for unity within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to make the party’s victory in 2028 a reality.
Mr Agyapong averred that without unity, the party will have no opportunity in the 2028 general elections.
He posited even with Jesus Christ as the presidential candidate in 2028, the party will lose the elections if it is not united.
The former parliamentarian who contested and lost the party’s presidential primary to former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia said the party must forget about the past and forge ahead in unity.
He made the remarks at an engagement with party supporters last week.
‘’We need unity. Without unity, you can even decide to file Jesus Christ as the candidate for the party; he will lose. The most important thing is to put everything that had gone wrong behind us and forge ahead in unity. Unity is crucial for the party. I will appeal to the party to put everything behind us, whether internal fights or any other challenge. We need unity; if not, forget it.
To those preparing to contest, we should remember that without unity, we cannot make progress or achieve our goal, and so I will continue to preach unity in the party.’’
He also expressed concern about how the party handled its internal primaries, claiming that it could have done better.
