Philis Naa Koryoo Okunor, Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya East, has announced that Kasoa will soon become a hub for trade and industry.
According to the lawmaker, the population of Kasoa keeps increasing, and the area is gradually becoming one of the fastest-growing municipalities, with the population projected to surpass that of Accra.
She said looking at the growing population, there was the need to industrialise Kasoa to create more jobs for the young people in the area.
Appearing on Frontline on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, she said there was the need to do something that will make living in Kasoa more comfortable for the inhabitants.
“We need to industrialise the constituency. There is no need to travel from Kasoa to Abossey Okai to buy spare parts if we have a spare parts market there. Plans are far advanced to establish a mechanical hub in Kasoa. We want to design a central location for all those dealing in the spare parts trade, just as we have in Abossey Okai,” she noted.
She disclosed that one problem facing the spare parts business in Kasoa is that after several years of establishing the spare parts business within a space, landowners lease out the space for other purposes.
“To address this challenge, we have to get one big place where all the spare parts dealers will operate. When we get them under one umbrella through the establishment of the mechanical hub, people will go there for business. This will create more job opportunities for the unemployed.”
