The Ghana Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists has appealed to the government to engage them so they will make an input into the Agenda 111 hospital projects.
The Association says its inputs into these crucial health projects will go a long way in providing holistic and quality healthcare after the completion of the projects.
General Secretary Mr Solomon Kwashir told Rainbowradioonline.com that efforts made by them to make inputs under the previous administration did not yield any positive results.
He disclosed that the then health minister told them point blank that he was not much involved with the project and that there was nothing that they could do.
Mr Kwashie explained that through their inputs, the hospital projects will create job opportunities for the several professionally trained medical laboratory scientists who are still at home after completing their education.
He was responding to questions surrounding the decision by some of their members who have travelled abroad to seek better opportunities.
He stated that 1,000 of their members travelled abroad in 2024 to practise there due to poor reputation, lack of better job opportunities and other challenges.
To address this challenge, he appealed to the government to engage them so they will provide input into the Agenda 111 projects.
We are hoping that the Agenda 111 hospital projects will open a lot of opportunities for people to get employed, and so we want to use this opportunity to call on the government again that we attempted to make input into that initiative. Unfortunately, we had a response from the then minister that he was not much involved and we couldn’t have any important role to play in the design of these facilities, and we are still calling on the government to open those projects for us to make relevant inputs so that the facilities are safe for us to work in and we can be productive.”
