President John Dramani Mahama has urged African nations to capitalise on shifting global dynamics to secure their place in the evolving economic landscape.
The Ghanaian leader noted that there was the need for Africa to move beyond its traditional trading mindset and embrace manufacturing, industrialisation, and entrepreneurship.
He made the remarks at the Kwahu Business Forum on Saturday, April 19, 2025.
“The world is changing, and new opportunities are being thrown up. We, as a country, must take advantage of those opportunities,” President Mahama stated.
President Mahama indicated that the ongoing trade wars between major economic powers present an opportunity for African countries to assert themselves.
He was optimistic that Africa has the potential to leverage current geopolitical changes.
He stressed that Africa must rethink its economic roles, encouraging bold ventures into agribusiness, digital entrepreneurship, and large-scale commercial farming.
“We can be anything that we want,” he affirmed.
