Divine Nkrumah, Director of Operations for the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), has criticised the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) for embarking on a “Thank You Tour.”

The 2024 presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, together with the party’s leadership, is currently embarking on a nationwide Thank You Tour which started on Saturday, 26th April 2025.

But the young politician opined that the former Vice President and the elephant family should change the tour to the ’Confession and Apology Tour”.

Speaking on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, he asserted that the issues which Dr Bawmumia has referenced as the reasons for the humiliating defeat are not new.

He stated that these were issues that Ghanaians and objective critics of the previous administration raised but were ignored and dismissed as naysayers.

Divine Nkrumah claimed that the NPP mismanaged the economy, worsened Ghanaians’ living conditions, targeted political opponents, and destroyed their businesses.

‘’ The NPP should change the name of the tour from ‘’Thank You Tour’’ to ‘’Confession and Apology Tour’’, because they did not treat Ghanaians well. They mismanaged the economy. They must apologise to Ghanaians. Bawumia should go on his knees and apologise to us. Whatever he is telling us now is not something new. These were issues we complained about. The E-Levy, for example, was a major issue we opposed, but they passed it and later celebrated by cutting a cake for it. He is now confessing that E-Levy was one of the things that caused them to lose the elections. We spoke about the arrogance of power, the Domestic Exchange Programme, and the banking sector cleanup, which were all part of the issues we spoke about while they were in office, but they refused to listen, and today, Dr Bawumia is repeating the same things we spoke against.

If Bawumia is rehashing the things we already knew and spoke about, he should go on his knees and offer an apology to Ghanaians. But Bawumia is not someone who has any remorse for what his party did to us. He’s throwing everybody under the bus, and he has refused to accept any blame. He is pointing fingers at everyone, and yet, he was part of the team that caused us all this mess.”

He advised the NPP’s youth to reclaim the party from the current leadership, who lack integrity and credibility, and warned that if the party’s youth do not rescue it, the NPP will remain in opposition for many years. They have not learnt any lessons, and young people with political ambitions must save the party or they will be unable to contest and win any elections.”
