Legon Security guards who were used as guards for the All-African Games have disclosed that they were not paid a pesewa for the job they did.
Speaking in an interview with Rainbow Radio’s Kwabena Gyasi aka K Gee, the guards lamented that despite the difficult job they did, they were not appreciated.
According to them, they were not provided with water during their time working at the games.
“I am stating on record that we were not paid for the services we provided during the All-African Games. I dare anyone to deny this. I was specifically assigned to the stadium. I did not receive a pesewa for the work I did. We weren’t given water. We bought water from our pockets. I am daring the former Minister of Sports, Mustapha Ussif, to come out and deny this,’ a security guard said.
Another guard said, ’’This issue about the compensation nearly got the former sports minister assaulted. The volunteers nearly assaulted him over their compensation. Later they paid the volunteers, but the security guards were paid a pesewa”.
Enoch Annor Darko, who also identified himself as a guard, said, “You can quote me anywhere. My name is Enoch Osei Darko, and I am a security guard at Legon. We were paid a pesewa after the All-African games. I have mentioned my name to you, and you can quote me anywhere.”
