Patrick Ngalamulume, a football referee from Bukavu in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo, has been killed.
An angry mob lynched and burned to death the man after accusing him of theft, which was unproven.
The incident occurred overnight between May 5 and 6, 2025, in the Irambo neighbourhood, where the 36-year-old, also known as “Ngalas,” was attacked by locals who accused him without evidence.
Details emerging indicates that Ngalamulume was an affiliate of the Bukavu Urban Football Association (EUFBUK).
He was allegedly beaten and set ablaze before emergency services could reach the scene.
Although he was reportedly attacked in the presence of residence, nobody could rescue him.
