The immediate past President of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC), Mr Ben Nunoo Mensah, has officially handed over to newly elected President Richard Akpokavie.
Mr Mensah handed over at a brief ceremony at the Olympic House in Ridge, Accra, on Monday morning.
He handed over official documents, keys, and various items, including leftover sporting kits from the Olympic and Commonwealth Games, to Mr Akpokavie.
He used the occasion to admonish the new president and his team to work hard to build on the achievements of his tenure.
He particularly advised the team to continue the OlympiAfrica Project at Amasaman. He congratulated the new leadership team and wished them success in their mandate to further advance Ghana sports.
The former treasurer, Mr Frederick Acheampong, at the ceremony also presented all financial and accounting documents, as well as records of assets, to the new treasurer, Mr Evans Yeboah.
In his acceptance speech, Mr Richard Akpokavie expressed his commitment to maintaining and enhancing the legacies inherited. He called on the Board, sports federations and the media to support his administration.He seeks to help reposition Ghanaian sports and the GOC at the highest level internationally.
Other personalities who attended the handing over ceremony were Mr. Isaac Duah (former Assistant Treasurer), Mawuko Afadzinu (First Vice President), Ernest Danso (Third Vice President), Baba Fuseini (Deputy Secretary General), Nii Lante Bannerman (Assistant Treasurer), and Kamal Sulley (new Board Member).
