The People’s National Party (PNP) under the leadership of Madam Janet Nabla has scored President John Dramani Mahama’s first 120 days -2 over 10, indicating that the performance of the President has been abysmal.
She claimed the president has not demonstrated accountability, ethical leadership, or any deliverables to secure him any favourable assessment.
In an interview on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, Madam Nabla stated that despite politicising galamsey and promising to address it, the issue has escalated.
She claimed that illegal miners under previous President Akufo-Addo were afraid to engage in the act, but that since the NDC won power, they have been encouraged to be irresponsible and don’t care about the harm their unlawful actions are inflicting the Ghanaian people.
Madam Nabla said the cost of living has even worsened to the point that kontomire has become expensive.
”Kontomire is sold on the market for Ghc20 and is even more scarce. Kontomire, a nutritious food, is currently scarce or expensive. When you purchase your regular ‘ampesi’ and request palava sauce, they will charge you for it. Politicians from the current government have taken over the galamsey and are destroying our forests and water bodies. You promised to fight it, but after gaining power, you conspired with small-scale miners to carry out galamsey. The galamsey problem has become a pandemic, and it is not likely to improve anytime soon.”
She also refuted claims that the president is running the leanest government in history, arguing that, while the president is running a lean government, the cost is significantly higher than the NPP’s ‘obolo size’ government.
