Swiftly sack underperforming and corrupt appointees if you want your administration to succeed – Mahama told

Ghanaian cleric-turned-politician Christian Kwabena Andrews, nicknamed Osofo Kyiri Abosom, has advised President John Dramani Mahama not to hesitate in removing any appointee or appointees that misbehave or underperform.

The leader and founder of the Ghana Union Movement (GUM) opined that the success of the Mahama-led administration will solely depend on his appointees and how they perform.

He remarked that should the president fail to swiftly drop the hammer on any appointee who will misconduct themselves, then he will not make any impact.

He believes the president has a lot of goodwill, and Ghanaians trusted in his leadership, hence the reason he must succeed at all costs.

He admonished to remain firm but fair and, most importantly ensure accountable, ethical and transparent governance.

Speaking in an interview on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 86.5FM, Osofo Kyiri Abosom emphasised the need for the president not to pursue a path of destruction where politicians only focus on themselves, cronies, relatives and allies by milking the state resources for their own selfish interests.

He was responding to the question of whether the government of President Mahama will succeed.

In his response, he stated, “I do not have a problem with Mahama as a person, but his appointees will determine his success or failure.” He should not waste time firing those who are incompetent and instead hire new employees. If Mahama’s government fails to deliver and rescue this country, an uprising will be required before it can develop.”
