A heated disagreement has emerged between Hon. Samuel Silas Mensah, the former Member of Parliament for Upper West Akim District, and Hon. Emmanuel Drah, the current MP, over the Adeiso Cocoa Juice Sack Factory located at Kofi Ogbo.
The factory, which has been attributed to an initiative by the NDC government, has become a point of contention between the two politicians.
Hon. Drah has taken concrete steps to operationalise the factory by bringing in officials from the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) headquarters to work on the facility.
According to him, the factory is intended to benefit the people of Upper West Akim and Ghana as a whole.
As the current MP, Hon. Drah sees it as his duty to work towards the factory’s operationalisation for the benefit of his constituents.
However, Hon. Samuel Silas Mensah, who served as the MP for the area from 1992 to 2008, has strongly criticised Hon.
Drah’s involvement in the factory’s development. The former MP’s reaction suggests that he might feel the current MP is overstepping or misrepresenting the project’s origins.
The disagreement between the two MPs highlights the complexities of political dynamics and the challenges of collaborative development efforts.
While Hon. Drah is focused on making the factory operational, Hon. Mensah’s criticism raises questions about the project’s ownership and credit.
As the situation continues to unfold, it remains to be seen how the disagreement will affect the factory’s development and the relationship between the two politicians. One thing is certain, however: the people of Upper West Akim are watching closely to see how this situation plays out.
