Former Black Stars and Accra Hearts of Oak player Yaw Amankwah Mireku has commended businessman Seidu Agongo for gifting senior goalkeeper of the national team, Benjamin Asare, a car.
The retired footballer was excited for the goalkeeper and prayed that God would bless the businessman for his kindness.
He was, however, quick to make a passionate appeal to Seidu Agongo to extend his benevolence to him since he also needed a car.Seidu Agongo’s gesture is commendable. But I am also making a request through this medium to appeal to him to extend his kindness to me. I am Amankawaa Mireku. I have won the Super Cup and Champions League; I have been a captain, and so I am appealing to him to donate a car to me. I also use trotro. If it was based on performance that he donated the car to Benjamin Asare, then I also have a solid track record. His donation to Asare is great, but I want to appeal to him to also gift me a car. I would be okay if he gifted me a Matiz.’’
He said that what has happened is exciting because it shows that people watch you over whatever you do, hence the need for this to serve as motivation to the other colleagues of Asare.Mr Mireku, however, cautioned them not to see this as an opportunity to also use the means Benjamin used with the hope of getting donations.
” Benjamin’s situation was different. He was riding in a trotro, which drew the attention of Ghanaians, and he was later given a car, so other players should not ride bicycles in the hopes of being noticed and given a car. ‘It should be about performance,’ he declared.
