Ghanaian afrobeats artiste King Promise has won the Artiste of the Year award at the 26th Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA).
The award is his first ever in the topmost category of the annual ceremony.
The ‘Terminator’ hitmaker toppled. others. like Stonebwoy, King Paluta, Team. Eternity and others to win.
King Promise received nominations for this category for two consecutive times: 2024 and 2025.
King Promise also won three awards at the 26th TGMA: Best Afropop Song, Best Afrobeats/Afropop Artiste and Best Album/EP of the Year.
In his speech, he admonished the younger generation not to give up on their dreams and believe in God’s timing just as he did and has been made “the chosen one”.
“If any young person is watching me right now who has a dream, use me as an example of resilience. My first year when I broke out on the scene, I had seven nominations, and I left with zero.
“While some people laughed, I just worked harder because I believe in God’s timing. Today, I am the chosen one,” he said.
