President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, has heaped praise on the KGL Foundation for its transformative and unwavering support toward the development of youth football in Ghana.

Speaking at the official launch of the KGL Foundation 2025 Inter-Regional U-17 Colts Championship, Mr Okraku described the initiative as more than just a tournament — calling it a celebration of youthful brilliance, regional identity, and the unifying force of football.

“This championship is a beacon of hope for young boys across the nation,” the GFA President remarked. “It offers them a vital platform not only to showcase their talents but also to exhibit discipline, resilience, and potential.”

Mr Okraku, known for his passionate stance on youth development, recounted the early days of the GFA’s vision to revitalise grassroots football. He recalled how the journey began with scepticism from many, but the KGL Foundation believed in the mission from the onset.

“Five years ago, very few had faith in our vision. The KGL Foundation, however, stood tall and came through for us,” he stated. “Their enduring partnership has been instrumental in breathing new life into Colts football across Ghana.”

He expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Foundation’s leadership, acknowledging their consistent sponsorship and investment in the dreams of young footballers. “Their contribution has not just been financial — it has been transformational. Many young talents owe their rise to the opportunities created by this partnership.”

Highlighting the GFA’s broader strategy, Mr Okraku reiterated the association’s mission: “To build from the ground up — nurturing future stars, empowering coaches, and strengthening the bedrock of our football ecosystem.”

As part of its 2024/2025 vision, the GFA has rolled out several initiatives to support youth football. These include the provision of footballs and trophies and the facilitation of free registration for up to 90 players per club across the U-13, U-15, and U-17 categories.

The Inter-Regional U-17 Colts Championship, powered by the KGL Foundation, is set to become a cornerstone of Ghana’s football development framework, offering a vital pathway for talent discovery and long-term national growth.

With the continued collaboration between the GFA and KGL Foundation, stakeholders believe the future of Ghanaian football is in promising hands.
