The Member of Parliament for Krachi East, Hon. Kofi Nelson Djabab, delivered a statement in Parliament highlighting recent positive economic indicators, including the significant appreciation of the Ghanaian cedi against major currencies, as reported by the Bank of Ghana. He also noted a consistent decline in headline, food, and non-food inflation during the first four months of 2025.
Hon. Djabab welcomed the drop in petroleum prices, which has led to a reduction in transportation fares. He commended these developments as signs of economic recovery and improved fiscal stability.
However, he expressed concern that despite these gains, the prices of goods and services remain largely unchanged. This, he noted, has caused frustration among consumers who are yet to experience the benefits of the improved economic conditions in their daily lives.
He therefore called on businesses and traders to reduce prices accordingly, stressing that economic progress must reflect in market practices. He emphasised the need for fairness, social equity, and consumer protection to ensure that all Ghanaians benefit from the country’s economic recovery.
