The 37 Military Hospital is set to embark on a temporary closure of its Medical Emergency Unit (MEU) to carry out a comprehensive fumigation exercise.
The fumigation exercise the hospital said is aimed at safeguarding public health and maintaining environmental hygiene.
The shutdown will take place from Wednesday, June 4, to Saturday, June 14, 2025.
It is part of a proactive effort to ensure a sterile and safe environment for both patients and healthcare personnel.
A statement issued by Lieutenant R.K. Kotoku on behalf of the Acting Director General of Public Relations of the Ghana Armed Forces admonished the public to make use of alternative emergency medical facilities in Accra during the 10-day period.
The facility identified Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, Greater Accra Regional Hospital (Ridge Hospital), Police Hospital, and Lekma Hospital as hospitals to accommodate emergency cases redirected from the 37 Military Hospital.
According to the statement, special arrangements have been made to ensure that entitled personnel continue to receive emergency medical care during the shutdown.
He said these patients will be attended to at the Trauma Surgical Emergency Unit (TSEU), which will remain fully operational throughout the fumigation period.
The hospital stressed that the exercise is to uphold high standards of hygiene and infection control while also minimising disruptions to critical care services for designated patient groups.
The hospital has expressed sincere regret for any inconvenience caused and appreciates the public’s cooperation and understanding during this essential exercise.
