Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson has disclosed that Cabinet has approved guidelines to ensure the prudent and accountable utilisation of funds for specific areas of allocation.
The guidelines will affect eight specific areas.
According to the minister, 25% of the amount transferred to the district assemblies is to be used for the design and construction of 24-hour economy model markets.
He stated that 10% of the funds will be allocated for the construction of health facilities, a minimum of 2 CHPS compounds per Assembly, while 10% will go towards the construction of educational facilities, comprising 1 KG block, 1 primary school block, and 1 Junior High School block.
Additionally, 10% will be allocated for the provision of potable water and a minimum of 10 boreholes for rural assemblies.
The remaining allocations are 10% for environmental sanitation, including solid and liquid waste management; 10% for the provision of school furniture; and 5% for the administration of the Assemblies, including monitoring and evaluation.
Furthermore, 20% has been allocated to complete abandoned legacy projects, including the numerous uncompleted structures left behind by the Middle Belt Development Authority, Coastal Development Authority, and the Northern Development Authority.
The minister also announced that the government has transferred GHS987,965,073.00 from the Consolidated Fund into the District Assembly Common Fund Account, being the first quarter amount due to the DACF.
