The Minister for Sports and Recreation, Honourable Kofi Adams, has voiced concern over an incident during the Week 33 Ghana Premier League match between Nations FC and Basake Holy Stars at Anyinase. Although a full report is pending, initial findings suggest a lack of understanding among team officials regarding the game’s structure.
Minister Adams emphasised the need to educate team owners, managers, referees, and other stakeholders about the complexities of football. He noted that addressing funding alone is insufficient—accountability for misconduct is also vital. He advocated for strong penalties for those who break the rules or incite violence.
The minister proposed widespread training and education for all involved in the sport, including players, coaches, officials, and fans, to foster discipline and responsibility and prevent future incidents.
