Member of Parliament for Lower West Akim, Hon. Owen Kwame Frimpong, has expressed support for the newly introduced 1 cedi energy sector levy.
According to Hon. Frimpong, the levy is a crucial initiative by the government that provides transparency and accountability in tax allocation.
Hon. Frimpong believes that paying taxes becomes more meaningful when citizens can see where their money is going and how it’s being utilised.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Rainbow Radio International parliamentary correspondent Bohyeba Afriyie, he contrasts the levy with other taxes, suggesting that this levy ensures funds are used effectively.
The MP also drew comparisons with developed countries, noting that citizens in Europe and America are happy to pay taxes because they understand the benefits.
