In a decisive regulatory action following the heated MTN FA Cup semi-final match between Berekum Chelsea and Asante Kotoko, the Ghana Football Association’s Disciplinary Committee has found five Berekum Chelsea players guilty of misconduct.
Mizack Afriyie, Stephen Amankona, Zakaria Fuseini, and Seidu Mohammed were each fined GHS 1,000 for unsporting behavior towards match officials during the intense fixture.
The incident, which attracted attention for the players’ unruly conduct, has prompted the GFA to issue a strong warning, emphasizing that any future misconduct by these players will attract severe sanctions.
However, in a gesture of leniency, the fines have been suspended for six months, giving the players a chance to reflect and amend their behavior under close scrutiny.
As the football community looks ahead to future tournaments, the GFA’s regulatory stance underscores its commitment to maintaining discipline and respect within the sport.
Berekum Chelsea, known for its passionate play, is expected to uphold the values of sportsmanship as it moves forward.
