The newly constituted Board for the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) has been sworn into office.
Chairman of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, will serve as the Board Chairman of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA).
He was sworn in alongside the other members at a brief today, Wednesday, June 25.
Professor Ransford Gyampo, acting CEO of the Ghana Shippers Authority, will be on the board as a member.
The appointments are part of efforts to strengthen the governance structure of the GPHA and provide strategic leadership in the development and regulation of the country’s port infrastructure.
The new board is expected to guide policy direction, enhance operational efficiency, and support infrastructure expansion projects at Ghana’s key port facilities.
The Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) is a statutory corporation established under Ghana’s Provisional National Defence Council Law (PNDCL 160) of 1986 to build, plan, develop, manage, maintain, operate and control all ports in Ghana.
The Authority manages and operates the sea ports of Ghana and various business units in collaboration with a number of private service providers in the areas of vessel handling, stevedoring, transfer, storage, receipt and delivery of containerised and general cargo. Others are safety, security and conservancy services.
