A student of Berekum Senior High School, Edmund, narrowly escaped a mob attack after it was discovered that he had been impersonating a woman to extort money from local residents at Biadan in the Brekum East Assembly, Bono Region.
According to Nana Kwame, reporting for Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, the student would dress as a woman and make monetary demands from men who expressed interest in dating him.
He would offer excuses—such as menstruation or illness—to avoid meeting them in person.
Additionally, he reportedly requested spare keys to the men’s rooms and later returned to steal from them when they were away.
Suspicious of his true identity, one of the men invited him out for a drink.
During the encounter, it was discovered that his “breast” was actually a sachet of water. Upon this revelation, the student fled, pursued by a mob, until he sought refuge in a church where a service was ongoing.
The student informed the pastor that he was being chased by an angry crowd.
When the mob arrived, the pastor intervened, securing the student in his office to prevent harm.
The pastor later contacted the student’s parents, who agreed to compensate those their son had defrauded.
The parents appealed for calm, assuring the mob that all affected individuals would be reimbursed.
